The Hurricane Harvey Dogs Are Here!
With no local facilities available to take in their animals in the days leading up to Hurricane Harvey, Houston area shelters were faced with a difficult choice: Leave them in the shelter during an evacuation and hope for the best, or euthanize them and know that they passed peacefully. Euthanasia was the only humane choice they could make… until rescuers, including the Hudson Valley SPCA, stepped in!
Multiple shelters from around the country banded together to bring as many dogs as possible to safety. On August 29th – less than 96 hours later – twelve of the “Hurricane Harvey Dogs” arrived at the HVSPCA! Here, instead of awaiting certain death, they await their new forever families as they rest, receive medical care. and get pampering from our volunteers!
